Yesterday was the first day we officially used our pool. As with the previous two years that we've lived here Ruby has always been the first one in the pool. She's a bit fearless at time, though this time she needed an extra push to get in. It went a little something like this, "Charlie, do you dare me to jump in? Do you dare me Charlie? Charlie, do you dare me to jump in the pool? Are you going to dare me? Do you dare me to jump in?" Alas, Charlie agrees and says, "Ruby, I dare you to jump in." Ruby responds, "Ohhhh no, now I have to jump in. Charlie dared me to. Ohhhhh nooooo! I've got to do it, I've been dared. O.k. Charlie, you dared me so I'm going to jump in." It was classic Ruby drama - loved it!
And, because she was "dared", Ruby jumped in. Once in she said it wasn't that cold and jumped in a few more times with noone else following her lead. After the excitement wore off she started to whimper for a towel and the fun was over. In a few more weeks we'll all be comfortably floating in the pool with no worries of school or homework - can't wait!!

Great pictures. I am so jealous, I remember those April days when swim days started.
Ha,ha,ha! We took the kids to my parents to swim on Sat. - half hoping they'd realize how cold it is and quit asking to go swimming - and they loved it! Darn! They swam for probably 1/2 hour or more - silly kids!!! Luckily, Kelcie is really obedient and parents didn't have to get in - phew!
That sounds so familiar. I miss those days of a pool in our backyard. The first jump of the season is always a little chilly but the most daring--and fun! Beautiful blue eyes!
Ruby, do you dare me to take a picture? Do you? I will, but only if you dare me... hello, Ruby? Did you hear me?
I can see you giving the Rubes drama right back.
Oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAUL!!!!!
Love that Ruby's spirit.
Made it to 15,000! It helped going a field trip to the science center and walking for 2 hours.
Amy,
I dare you to jump in the pool. I dare you.
I'm jealous you have a pool! Ruby is so dang cute!
Ruby is so so so so so so funny she just dared herself to jump in.
I am cracking up! gav has been begging to go swimming. So about a week ago I said fine. I will give you a dollar if you swim all the way across. He did it but he was done after that.
I came up short yesterday and probably will today. I have just felt rundown the past couple days. I'll get back on track Monday.
OK I barely made it to our goal today. I am back on track!
That is too funny that she had Charlie dare her to jump in...Love it! She is such a cute girl and Jaidyn said she a had a lot of fun playing with her the other day.
Ruby has always done things the way she sees fit, hasn't she? She's awesome! Let the swimming begin!
