Thanks to my parents every summer they offer us a place to stay in Mazatlan as long as we can get ourselves there. It was time to go this summer and we got ourselves there. We decided rather than fly we would save money and have an adventure and drive, yes, drive. Fortunately for us my sister and her family caravan ed with us and it made the trip so much more adventurous and fun.
My parents were also there along with my brother and his family. An entire week in Mazatlan - what a dream!! Each kid had a few cousins their age so they played and played and played. One morning towards the end of the week I told the kids to get their swimsuits on, Gib sighed and said, "Can't we just have one day where we can relax." Obviously swimming at the pool, then to the beach, then back to the pool to order lunch, then swimming some more was not his idea of relaxing. Poor kid!!
This picture was taken outside of the chapel in Mazatlan after church. The kids all sat patiently through an entire Sacrament meeting all in Spanish. There were times I looked over at Ruby and she was listening so intently that I thought that maybe she understood. Jane (cute cousin) came up with the great idea to have all the kids write down all the spanish words they understood. I'm guessing that was what Ruby was doing but she sure looked like she was soaking it in.
The beach was right outside of the hotel and in the morning someone from our group would go grab towels and claim our chairs on the beach and by the pool. That way we could go back and forth as we pleased. Pretty much bliss life as we sat at the beach shopping for sunglasses, jewelry, per chance a hat. The kids sat on the beach getting henna tatoos and their hair braided, ordering pina coladas and nachos. And Gib wanted a day to relax?
Eli was a dream. He had so much fun in the pool but the minute he would start to fuss we'd wrap him up in a towel, give him his pacifier, place him under the shade and he'd be out for a couple of hours for his afternoon nap. No going up to the room for naptime for me.
The sunsets were beautiful and right outside our rooms. It was a great way to end a great day, everyday. Thanks to my mom and dad for giving us the opportunity to have such a great vacation. It was so fun to be together as a family and there was really no worries.
It's good to be home though and I am sooooooooo grateful for our bed and for dry heat. My short hair doesn't look too great in humidity - pretty fluffly!!

I was waitin for your return . . . sure there would be great pictures. I was right! Beautiful! You capture the moments perfectly. Glad it was dreamy!
I'm sure your hair looked gorgeous fluffy! I admit, I am pretty stinkin' jealous (j-e-a-l-o-u-s...). If we start saving now, maybe we will join you all in 2 years.
Glad you're home safe, with minimal Spanish skills to get you back up through Mexico. I was a tad worried, gladly for no reason. Can't wait to hear more!
How fun! I love getting the girls' hair braided like that. Tell Gib I think I could take his place next time if he wants to stay home and "relax"! Gorgeous picture at the end! Glad you're back!
