A couple of weeks ago I was able to purchase a Nutrimill wheat grinder. Since then I've been on a quest for a beautiful loaf of whole wheat bread. I've tried various recipes, I've discovered wheat gluten and dough enhancer to make my bread look "more voluptuous", I've tried red wheat and white wheat, and I feel through it all I've put in some serious effort to make this phenomenal loaf of bread. Well, yesterday it was going to happen. After a half hour of letting my dough rise I glanced over and saw an almost visionary sight . . . my bread had risen famously that I had to take a picture:

Absolutely beautiful - wouldn't you agree?
So I baked my bread and somehow, unfortunately, burned the bottom. Then when I pulled it out to cool I turned my back for a moment and Eli had crawled on the counter and thought he would help out . . . by punching the "dough".

Sad for a moment but had to laugh. He also stuck his fingers in another loaf. So, I haven't quite arrived yet but sooooo close. It still tasted delicious though.

I figured all this out about a year ago, and our family has been enjoying homemade bread ever since. I should email you the recipe I use. It's the best one I've found so far. So funny that Eli was such a great helper. You'll have to let him know the right time to punch down the dough next time!
HA,HA,HA,HA,HA,HA....!!!!!!!!!! That is too funny! Hey, let me know when you find the great recipe - I haven't figured it out yet, either.
Beautiful loaf! I can tell by the before picture that it would have been perfect! Good job!
I love the things kids do! So many fun memories... We love homemade wheat bread around here. Good luck with the fine tuning!
Way to go Amy! Is this because you went to Shari's bread making class? Sorry I missed it.

(if the first person to comment sends you her recipe...pass it on to me) cgbray@coxinet.net . By the way, in regards to your commnet on my blog, the timing was interesting because I have spent the week struggling with all my weaknesses and wondering what, if anything I am offering my family....so "sweet" will do.
