I don't mean to toot my own horn . . .

but I can throw a mean 5 year old birthday party.
This was Eli's first big time birthday party and he wanted it to be a carnival, so a carnival is what we did. It was pouring rain all morning long and Charlie and Eli sent out some heart felt prayers that the rain would stop. We made the decision to move the carnival inside (I know, "oh ye of little faith") but had the bounce house ready just in case. The party was to begin at 4 p.m. and at around 2 p.m. the rain had stopped. Could it be? Eli began to wait by the window for his friends to start showing up. He was so stickin' excited!!
Still no rain so the bounce house went up as the kids started to arrive (special thanks to my rockin' friend Melissa for letting me use her own personal bounce house)

Once the majority of the kids had shown up the "shuttle" came to pick them up to bring them to the carnival. Good lookin' shuttle driver!!
Once at the carnival they were given empty loot bags and a bunch of tickets with the instructions that every game and all the food would cost one ticket each. Then they were let loose at the carnival. It was cute to see because I think they were all a little bit over stimulated at first, just like at a real carnival. I'm that good!!
We had a fishing pond, lucky lollipop, bowling, pin a heart on a creature kind of game, balloon twisting and face painting (I've got connections).

And another special thanks goes out to my friends Lisa J. and Stacy W. for letting us use their commercial use cotton candy machine and popcorn machine. The cotton candy could have been a party in and of itself.
Ruby got her haircut that morning and wasn't really diggin' the bangs but she embraced her decision and rocked the look. Besides, cotton candy can cure almost any disappointment, almost.
After all the games were played the kids went back to the bounce house while my fabulous helpers (Ruby, Gib, Paige, Max and Tula) helped me get the family room picked up (tons of popcorn) and ready for the next event. . . a little freeze dance to burn some calories.

a group hug for Eli
after some corn dogs (it was a carnival after all) and opening presents the kids were rushed out with their full loot bags, faces painted, balloons and a cupcake. Great party! Eli couldn't wait to get back inside and start playing with all of his new toys.
An hour later Paul was folding up the bounce house and it started to POUR rain. The prayers of two little boys was answered. What a party!!!

Nice job, as always! I do think you're a little bit nuts inviting that many 5-yr-olds to your house, but you've always been braver than I. Looks like a blast.

that is a lot of kids.

Johnny is pretty jealous of how cool that party was. He wants the cotton candy machine.

Happy Birthday, ELI!
