I just got Photoshop CS3 and Lightroom the other day and I am sooooo diggin' it.  Do you really think my kid's teeth are that white?  And what about that glisten in their eyes?  I see it but the camera never is able to pick it up.  And let's not forget the ability to actually scrapbook digitally - so the "paper" and "lettering" were free as I'm messing around and learning how to use it all. (too cutesy but impressive, nonetheless).  I do not miss the days of film cameras and my actual darkroom set up in my bathroom on top of my toilet.  I can do everything and so much more on my computer and I don't have to smell the chemicals of fixer and developer.  Life is good!!

The last couple of years I have prepared the kids that I will not be buying their school pictures because I feel I can get such a better shot of them.  It took a few times before their feelings weren't hurt but now they get it.  We have a game where they've got to make the funniest faces they can without being too obvious to the photographer.   We get a good laugh.  But the last laugh will be on me when they start using that photo as their actual class photo.  My kids will curse me 'til the day I die.  Until then, it's pretty funny!!

You've got a good-lookin' bunch of kids--they won't look human after you're finished "Photoshopping" them!

I have a copy of Lightroom but am totally clueless. Wish you were still in Beantown and you could teach me a thing or two.

A. I'm jealous, as usual, of everyone's cameras and photoshop STUFF! BUT I know you will put it to better use than I ever could. Remember the Chathamtowne days when you would drag Kathy and me around to do things like stand on hills so it looked like one of us was holding the other on their hand?
B. It's so YOU to have your kids 'secretly' make faces at the school photographer! I love it!

Hey, I don't let my kids get school pictures either, and I'm not even a good photographer. They're such a rip off and such low quality. Have fun with the kiddos.

Is Jen talking about the same Airport experience where you got frisked? Or the one where you hugged the passenger coming off the plane like they were your long lost cousing? Or..... if I keep going everyone will think that we had nothing better to do in High School than go to the airport for laughs, or dress in black or... We were soooo cool. :) Honestly though, I picture you in the wheelchair at the airport almost everytime I go. :)

Hey long-lost photo friend!
I was blog-surfing & found yours.
LOVE IT! You are so darling!!
I'm trying to figure out all the Photoshop stuff too. Not enough time in the day. But it makes a big difference. I don't know what I did without it. And I LOVE lightroom!

Hey Amy, I just linked into your blog and I'm embarrassed that I didn't put your name with your blog when we talked on the phone the other day. I've totally been here before and forgot that you're a total photographer. I love your stuff. And I love talking photography with others who do the same kind of thing. Do you do a lot of family photography? Anyway, Tom & Melis were talking about how well you know the Mac stuff the other night...I wish I could pick your brain about that too! One question off the top of my head: Do you put all your pictures into iPhoto so that you can use all the slideshow features, etc.? I just put mine directly into Lightroom and I don't know if I can use them from there or if I have to put them in iPhoto to do all the whizbang cool Mac stuff with them. When you get a sec could you let me know? Or could I call and pick your brain for a minute some time?
