Out of my comfort zone

A few months ago we were invited to run in a relay with our new best friends.  After we told them we didn't run very much they told us not to worry, it was only five miles.  A few days later I tell Paul that we can run five miles and let's do it.  So he texted our new best friend to tell him we were in.  A week or so later I learned that we committed to running in a Ragnar.  Do you know what that is?  Neither did I.  It's not running only five miles, it's running approx. five miles three times, through the night going on very little sleep and snacking on almonds and bananas.  It's being in a van for 36 hours with people I don't know very well and being very stinky.  It's running in the dead of the night, by myself, with a blinking vest and headlight.  It's tough stuff, especially since I don't claim to be much of a runner.  But guess what?  We did it!  And I have pictures to prove it.
(By the way, Paul and I made an agreement that I wouldn't bring my camera and he wouldn't bring his laptop.  There were some moments that I was regretting the agreement but overall our marriage is stronger because of it.)  And another by the way, this race was in San Francisco so we made a big ol' trip out of it.  I'll post photos of that later, 'cause I know you want to see.  Oh yeah, and another by the way, our new best friends are great and one of the high lights was getting to know two great couples.

So awesome!!! I was going to do a ragnar but then found out I had to have hip surgery and couldn't run like I used to. I'm so jealous. :) What a great experience you were able to have. :)

Kinda crazy and kinda fun, huh? I've done two relays and I think I will keep doing them. My sister was on the "revenge of the Ragnerds" team with the argyle socks. I saw some of their socks in your photos!
